Katie Couric
Katie Couric, nicknamed “America's sweetheart” is an American journalist and television presenter most well known for her 15 year stint as the co-host of the Today show on NBC. She was also notably the anchor of the CBS evening news, and a correspondent for the investigative program 60 minutes. Katie was the recipient of many broadcasting awards, and worked as a presenter for special televised events such as the Olympics, presidential elections, Thanksgiving day parades, and even reported live from several natural disasters. Katie is the recipient of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for best broadcast, and was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 2004. She has been a wonderful spokesperson and advocate for colon cancer screening after she tragically lost her first husband to the disease. She has enjoyed a semi-retirement from television since 2017 when she stepped back to focus more on her production company Katie Couric Media.
As a newly ordained minister of the Universal Life Church, she performed her first wedding in Turkey on May 11, 2024 for friend, singer-songwriter, Peter Cincotti and his fiance Zeynep Onaran. You can bet her most recent foray into ministerial work with the ULC was with a spectacular affair with vows written and performed by one of the best in the biz.
A full transcript of the ceremony as well as photos and commentary on the evening are available on Katie’s instagram. Complete with the comical and entirely relatable snafu that occurred during the vow exchange when Katie asked the groom to repeat after her, said “I screwed up”, and the groom repeated it to the crowd for laughs!
By all accounts the media darling dazzled the crowd with her sincere and heartfelt wedding officiation. She has already been asked to solemnize another wedding for daytime talk show host Amanda Kloot, so stay tuned for more happy couples wed by Katie in the near future!
