Alicia Silverstone
Alicia Silverstone is one of the most popular actresses of the 90s, a bonafide icon for her roles in Clueless and Batman & Robin. Adding to her iconic roles, now she’s also an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church!
Silverstone began her career at the age of six, modeling and acting in commercials. On the strength of her commercial work, she was cast in The Crush at the age of 15, even becoming legally emancipated in order to work the shooting hours of the film. That paid off: She won Best Villain and Best Breakthrough Performance at the 1994 MTV Movie Awards. If she was already famous by this point, she was launched into superstardom with her roles in a trio of Aerosmith music videos, including Cryin’. The hits just kept coming for Silverstone, including an unforgettable turn as Valley Girl Cher Horowitz in Clueless and Batgirl in Batman & Robin.
Despite her massive celebrity at the time, in the 2000s Silverstone decided to step out of the spotlight a bit and focus her attention on smaller independent projects and shows on Broadway. Still, she made occasional appearances in popular franchises, including Scooby-Doo and the Barbershop series. Recently, she acted in Netflix’s animated Masters of the Universe reboot series.
Now, much of Silverstone’s time is spent on animal rights activism. A vegan, Silverstone worked with PETA on several projects, even winning their award for ‘Sexiest Female Vegetarian’ in 2004.
She’s also an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church. If Silverstone’s screen roles are anything to go by, any weddings she officiates will be full of humor and heart!
