Dax Shepard
Dax Shepard is a popular actor, comedian, and podcast host. Now he’s also an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church.
Shepard’s success in show business is a testament to his ‘never give up’ attitude. He moved to Los Angeles in the 1990s to pursue his dream of being a comedian, and spent five years studying improv. Despite regular auditions, he didn’t land a role until 2003, when he was cast in MTV’s Punk’d, a hidden camera prank show hosted by Ashton Kutcher, where Kutcher pranked his celebrity friends. Shepard quickly became one of Kutcher’s most trusted accomplices, and the show, a wild success, proved to be a launching pad for Shepard. In the following years, Shepard would have starring roles in Without a Paddle, Idiocracy, and the TV drama Parenthood.
Shepard is married to actress Kristen Bell, whom he met at a birthday party in 2007. Despite getting engaged in 2010, they held off on tying the knot together until California legalized gay marriage. They ultimately wed in 2013, and have two daughters together.
Now, much of Shepard’s time is taken up by his wildly successful podcast Armchair Expert, where he interviews a different celebrity or academic each episode. The show is a huge hit - With a monthly audience of 20 million people, Forbes estimates that it’s one of the ten most financially successful podcasts in America. Shepard says his years of improv training and degree in Anthropology prepared him for the long-form discussions, which tend to last over two hours.
Those skills will also likely come in handy if and when Shepard officiates a wedding. As a Universal Life Church minister, Shepard is able to perform weddings all across the United States!
