Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert, host of the Emmy Award-winning Colbert Report on Comedy Central, top selling author, and new host of the Late Night Show on CBS, is one of the many popular celebrities to be ordained as a minister.
One of the most accomplished celebrities of all time, he has been a past Presidential candidate (twice), tried out for a spot on the U.S. Olympic bobsledding team, was knighted by the Kingdom of Jordan, has animal species named after him, and has even named the first space treadmill used by astronauts in need of exercise in space. Being an ordained minister, Stephen Colbert took his new ordination and used it to officiate a wedding on his television show.
Due to a government shutdown, the young couple Mike Cassesso and MaiLien Le were unable to marry at the Jefferson Memorial, so Stephen Colbert decided to take action. Being a widely known devoted Catholic, Stephen received his minister credentials online and used them to officiate the wedding of Cassesso and Le on his show live – joining the likes of other celebrity ministers who have performed weddings on air, like Conan O’Brien.
