Kesha Sebert

Kesha Rose Sebert, is a singer-songwriter born in Los Angeles, California in 1987. Raised by her single-mother, Patricia “Pebe” Sebert, singer-songwriter known for the song “Old Flames Can’t Hold a Candle to You” which was popularized by county artist Dolly Parton, Kesha was exposed to the music industry from a young age. After moving to Nashville in 1991, Kesha would frequently accompany her mother to recording sessions in the studio, and received great encouragement from her mother to pursue singing herself. During her high school years, Kesha played trumpet, and later saxophone in the marching band. Her high SAT score gained her acceptance to Barnard College, but it was right around this time that she began to receive recognition for her singing abilities and was initially signed to producer Dr. Luke’s record label, Kemosabe Entertainment. In 2006 she signed with David Sonenburg’s management company, DAS Communications, and began to receive more exposure by singing background vocals for Paris Hilton’s single, “Nothing in This World”, and Britney Spears’ “Lace and Leather”. In 2010, Kesha’s debut single “TiK ToK” broke records and topped the charts for weeks. 2010 would also see the release of her first EP, Cannibal, and her debut album Animal. In 2012, Kesha became a ULC ordained minister in order to officiate the same-sex wedding of her close friend, having performed a second marriage for another same-sex couple in 2015. She then went on to release her second album Warrior, that same year. In 2014, Kesha took the brave step of entering a rehabilitation center for bulimia, where she would write many of the songs performed on her third album Rainbow. She has since toured nationally, and internationally alongside artist Macklemore, and released the documentary film, Rainbow: The Film on Apple Music. Kesha’s fourth studio album, High Road, was released in 2020, and since then Kesha has also expanded her offerings to include her podcast, Kesha and the Creepies, where she discusses all things supernatural, with guests such as Demi Lovato, Tyler Henry and Ben Folds to name a few.
